After 18 months and 3750 km, I have upgraded from the Townee 2 to a Large Moody Blue Ascent MD. The Ascent MD is a solid bike, but not heavy.

I just love my Melo Yelo e-bike and we go everywhere together! It has great balance, the curved handle bar is easy on the wrists and the saddle so comfortable. I also appreciated that there were no extras to buy as lights, mud guards and carrier are included.
After having had a look around the shops I found Graham's customer service surpassed every other one by miles!
For starters I was able to have a proper trial run not just a few metres up and down an alleyway. He brought the new bike to my house and adjusted it to my requirements
When i caught a nail on one of my first rides and an issue arose he fixed it over the weekend....and for free!

I have been finding my old mountain bike a little demanding on the hilly stuff as the years are catching up a bit but I don't want to slow down so I got seriously interested in an ebike. I wanted to try one before committing and contacted Graham from MeloYelo Whangarei. He couldn't have been more helpful, dropping off a Town and Trail for an extended test as well as talking me through the pros and cons of other models and bringing a couple to me to try. I was very impressed with the performance and build quality of all of them and as a result have just taken delivery of an Ascent mountain bike which I intend exercising regularly both on and off road. I have no hesitation in recommending MeloYelo and Graham in Whangarei in particular.

I had identified a MeloYelo Traverse as a bike that would fill my requirements. Unfortunately it was a discontinued model but Andy from MeloYelo found a demonstration bike located some distance from our home.
Juergen, our closest MeloYelo agent brought it to Browns Bay. I went to check it out and Juergen spent a considerable time going over its features and patiently answering all my questions.
After a good real life test ride I bought it. The whole exercise was the most pleasant and pressure free purchase I have ever made and I thoroughly recommend Juergen to anyone considering the MeloYelo range of bikes.
I have had two 50+ km rides since and the bike has lived up to all my expectations.

Enjoyed dealing with Nigel (5 stars) - very friendly, well versed in ebikes and has been a great help when purchasing.

Regarding my townee 2.0 (4 stars), although the advertised range 60-70km seems like a long shot, whereby my battery regularly has 1/2 charge after only 20km and only using assist levels 1-3.

Have also purchased and just received the hi-vis vest. Very disappointed in the quality and very unlikely to use. Better off getting something from the warehouse for much cheaper and better quality.

My Meloyelo Ascent MD bike has opened up a whole new world of cycling for me. From the moment of my first phone call with agent Peter, I knew I had found someone who listened to my requirements. It was evident that he has a wealth of knowledge and experience about MeloYelo bikes, which he is willing to share in a friendly and open manner.
Once I decided to make the purchase, I was able to procure the bike immediately, much appreciated in these Covid times when there is a shortage of Ebikes in NZ. Peter then delivered my bike for me the same day, collected our supplementary number plate to take home and attach to the Yakima rack which we were also able to purchase from him.
This is my second Ebike and there is no comparison between the two. The performance of combination using both the mechanical gears and battery power on my Ascent MD is second to nothing else I have ridden. There is no stopping this superannuant now. Thank-you MeloYelo and a big thank-you to Peter.

Bought a demo Traverse from Jurgen on the North Shore for my son. Jurgen took the time to unpack the bicycle and all the features and gave us time for a proper test! Really decent quality on all levels. The power on tap flattens hills and allows you to ease into your fitness profile. The bike is solid, robust, pratical and comfortable. This has reignited a great way to get around.

Excellent advice and service from Grant and Soopy - made looking at different bike models, understanding how they worked, and which would be right for a rider super easy to understand and accessible. Loved the 1hr+ test ride to get a proper feel for an e-bike! 10/10, would recommend booking in a visit if you're curious about trying an e-bike!

Buying from Brent was easy and informative. Great to have someone with knowledge and experience to answer questions and give advice. We felt more at ease knowing there's backup or help on hand should anything go wrong and that there wasn't any sales person just trying to sell you one of many bikes in a shop.

While visiting Hamilton and riding the River Ride on our MeloYelo bikes we had a small accident which resulted in a broken brake lever assembly. We contacted Neil at MeloYelo on Saturday morning, delivered the bike to him at 1pm and collected it from him 3 hours later.
Neil was totally welcoming and helpful, and completed the work while on family time himself.

l am growing to love my e-bike. Now that l have had training with Neil l am much more confident at negotiating tightish corners and narrow spaces. Adjusting the speed to my capabilities and being mindful of passing parked cars. However, l still prefer to stick to cycle trails around Hamilton.

I am the very happy owner of a Traverse Mountain bike which I bought from Bruce in March 2019. I previously had an Evocity which was great for around town and gentle trails, but was looking for a bike that could handle the tougher conditions. I had only had it 2 days when I took it out on the Timber Trail, a great 2 day test for it! It handled the track no sweat and passed other e bikes on our ride with ease when on the steep uphill sections. I felt confident on the tight turns and we had rain on the second day that gave us wet, slippery conditions and I felt safe at all times. The battery lasted easily each day. I like the way I don't have to have the motor on all the time as it is easy to cycle. Bruce made the process of buying the bike very comfortable and I never felt pressured. He and Nancy even came all the way across town to deliver it for me!

Vera has been amazing. I ran into a little clitch with my MeloYelo ebike over the Christmas period. Vera answered a call the Saturday before Christmas and followed up to try to help me sort the issue. When this didn’t work she fitted me in for a service as soon as I could get my bike to her. My need was for a bike to use for exercise for the over 80s. Walking is out, joints cant take the hammering. Cycling is definitely smooth exercise.
The Townie 2 was a great choice. Excellent value for the money and as I live in a fairly hilly part of Tauranga I have the assistance of the E power for when the incline gets too steep for my old thigh muscles. In time I will require less and less E-assistance. Gear changing and synchronizing the power input is soon mastered to give a smooth ride. I'm really chuffed with the bike and it looks cool in Lime -green.

If you're looking to buy an eBike I would highly recommend talking to Vera and the team at MeloYelo Papamoa. Vera tells you all about the bikes in plain jargon free language so you can understand why and how a MeloYelo eBike would be right for you. The bike came with all the extras that I would otherwise have had to purchase separately for most other bikes.
We live in a hilly area and the motor and battery have no problem powering up the hills, even without pedaling. For those anxious about running out of power part way through a ride, we have (the wife is a proud owner too) done 36kms and just come off full battery.

Picked up my new bike today

Picked up my new Traverse MD on Tuesday from Papamoa and immediately rode 30 kms home to Tauranga. Vera Nelson was great to deal with through the buying process. I'm now looking forward to tackling hills I couldn't manage on a conventional bike!

From the first conversation with Vera, there was a sense of ease and nothing was going to be a problem. Her knowledge on the bikes was amazing. Two days ago a picked up my new MeloYelo Superlite from MeloYelo Papamoa. Well the experience was really very good indeed. Vera’s knowledge of her product is excellent. With the help of the wonderful Mike who set up the bike for me following my specifications, I can only say that I would recommend them to anyone who wants to go the e-bike route. They went above and beyond.
Yesterday I did a 20 km ride around a very hilly Whangamata and was duly impressed with the Superlite. It’s my second e-bike but certainly for me the better one.

As soon as I arrived at Vera's place I could see the quality of the bikes.
Vera then went on to explain everything to me and after my test ride I was more than impressed with the simplicity to operate the bike.

After riding from Te Puna to Omokoroa and return, the battery was still on full charge.

I researched e-bikes for many weeks before deciding on a MeloYelo. My decision was based, not only on the bike, but Rob McEwen's commitment to our environment, and education, through his EVolocity Charitable organisation. So, I made an appointment with Vera - I didn't have a model in mind, I just knew, I would find the right one. And I did ! No "salesy" pitches, no judgements, no steering me towards a higher priced product, and no rushing off pandering to other customers...I liked that. Just coming up to the first 1,000km of riding my Town 'n Trail and I'm absolutely loving it! My bike gets a thorough workout up and down some pretty steep hills almost daily. Dealing with Vera was a delight and she went the extra mile to be helpful. Highly recommended.

We had completed a big research on ebikes different brands and listened to people’s reports. Meloyelo, for us, appeared to be what we wanted.
We contacted Vera Nelson in Papamoa and were not disappointed. Even though she was extremely tired nothing was any bother. She assembled the bikes then delivered earlier than she said. And on delivery she ensured we were all good with various areas on the bikes such as unlocking the battery to changing of a tyre.
She also offered if we were to breakdown somewhere, just give her a ring and she would assist us, provided it wasn’t a public holiday. 😊 She would also fix the puncture for us.

In other words Vera was 100% committed to her work without any complaints even helping us to register our bikes.

I have just purchased a Meloyelo, superlite e bike with Kai Nielues from Taupo. I couldn't have asked for a better tutor. I trialed 3 bikes before I made my decision. He made me feel more confident each time we went out. Explaining when and how to use the assist mode and when to use gears. He set the bike up to fit me. I went with the dropper seat as I felt more confident having my feet on the ground when I stopped with just the push of a button. Highly recommend Kai for anyone who is unsure of purchasing an e bike and he will answer any questions or concerns you may have.

I just bought a Melo Yelo Ascent from Kai in Taupo. I had been looking for a step through style ebike for a while and ended up just getting confused by the local dealers but the moment I met Kai and was able to try out the different Melo Yelo bikes I was no longer confused. He was wonderfully patient and explained everything I needed to know. I enjoyed test riding a few of the step through bikes and even changed my handlebar style. Kai has been great to deal with throughout the whole process. We tried a couple of different bikes for our test ride and decided that these were the bikes for us. We bought two Ascent bikes with some accessories. Kai set both bikes up and made a few alterations to the height of seats and handlebars.

Kai was so helpful when I started the process of deciding on an E bike. He spent a lot of time answering many questions, and gave me a lot of helpful information, and took me out on a demo ride. I had lost my confidence in negotiating hills, even small ones, and he restored my confidence in my own abilities and in the bikes abilities - I felt like a kid just having fun again! I bought the Superlite small, and it's perfect size and weight for my size. Kai made sure to adjust the setup so it fitted me properly. Such a good quality bike. I'm going to have lots of fun on the trails and roads around Kinloch where I live and will be taking it with us on holidays too! One very happy customer!

kai took me for a test ride, rode both the tranzit MD and the town & trail. kai was fabulous, really knows what he is doing, and answered all my questions, and was so patient, i hadnt ridden for years. i purchased the town and trail, kai changed the handle bars for me, and was just so helpful. we are lucky he is the taupo agent.

I am so happy with my Tranzit MD purchased four months ago. Kai did a fabulous job fitting it and swapping out the handlebars and seat post to my specifications. He made a minor tweak or two at the first service and gave it a thorough wash. Very nice! It's reassuring to know he is around for maintenance and repairs.

I had not originally planned to ride trails, but Taupo has so many that the Tranzit handles effortlessly that I have fallen in love with them. I had no trouble riding Grade 3 on this bike.

It's a brilliant shopping bike remaining stable with several kg in each pannier.

I love my Tranzit for town and trails and Kai is so nice to work with.

My 'Bootee' electric bike was purchased from Malcolm so that it would fit easily in to the boot of the motorhome. As I am 84 years young it had to be lifted over a lip at chest height which I can do. I am enjoying the exercise and the exhilaration of wind whistling over my face and expect to continue to feel confident in the craftsmanship and technology of my bike. My appreciation goes to Dave who repaired my bike after it fell from my carrier under my camper!
I contacted Kai in Taupo to get a new wheel sent to Otaki where Dave could repair my Traverse. When visting Dave to leave my bike to be repaired, Dave suggested he could also repair the damaged bike carrier mount. The work was all done inside of 24hrs to a very high standard.
My sincere thanks to Kai for arranging the parts and especially to Dave for carrying out the work in such a short time during New Year holidays.

Just love my e bike probably clocked up under 100 km relatively less for the time I have had it cos my wife still works and she wants to be with me when we ride...just a safety matter. Dave was really friendly and helpful. There were a couple of suitable bikes for me to look at as I needed a low step through due to health reasons and he explained fully the different properties and additional options available. His property is on a great stretch of road which allowed for a decent trial ride and a chance to go through the gears and speeds. I chose the wider upright handlebars and the full suspension seat which I am glad I did. The hardest decision was choosing the colour, green or blue, I opted for the blue! Have had a couple of rides with my partner along the highway trails between Peka Peka and Paekakariki and thoroughly enjoyed it and he is also looking at getting an ebike when the larger ones comes into the country. Great decision, looking forward to getting out and exploring all the trails.

I am in my mid 60's & while I have biked in previous years, due to hip issues have found it increasingly harder to get out & ride.
I purchase a Melo Yelo town & Trail in December 2021 and have since ridden 300kms on the bike. It has opened up a new world of experience, I live on the Kapiti Coast and riding the expressway track & other tracks around the area has been an enjoyable experience. The bike is superb to ride & while some friends have said it is a cheat to own an e bike, I know I would not have ridden the distances I have on a non e bike.
Shane, the dealer in kapiti is very knowledgeable & a very helpful bloke to deal with.

My Melo Yelo Tranzit was put to the test when I rode the Titahi Bay to Pauatahanui inlet Which I might add for myself it was a very challenging ride, it had more puff than what I did.

I love my MeloYelo bike which is so easy to ride when it’s windy and also up the hill I live at the top of.
I am impressed with the philosophy of the company and found trying the bike on a quiet country road at Dave’s place in Otaki made all the difference and gave me the confidence that I was purchasing a very good product.
I haven’t yet got to my 500km for various reasons but when I do I shall be availing myself of the free service check.

Although we have plenty of experience with push-bikes we are new to e-bikes. Dave has a wealth of knowledge about ebikes, which he generously shared with us. I started riding a bike again as an adult some 40 years ago, after buying a car 20 years before. Now at the age of 84, I was starting to doubt my sense of balance. Then I tried a Meloyelo e-bike. My confidence was restored as the seating and handlebar heights made all the difference. I purchased my Townee after a trial ride, 3 months ago and haven't looked back since. I enjoy riding again and the delightful electric motor just completes the pleasure. I can go further and hills and wind are so easy. The sensors in the electrics provide exactly the correct amount of assistance at all times and I don't have to think about it. I drive a manual car but I love my automatic bike. 'Oldies, go for it !!

I received my Town n Trail E-Bike yesterday. The rep. for Marlborough Gary was awesome. We went to his home and saw all of the bike range and also got to try them for ourselves. Gary is happy to answer any questions and is very knowledgeable about the bikes. It was great that Gary dropped my bike off at my home then went for a ride with me and made any adjustments required whilst we were biking. I have had two rides on my bike so far and what a difference it is making for me already.

Meloyelo bikes are fantastic value. The specs are high quality compared to others. The agent Emma from the Hutt valley is excellent she even responded to an issue we had within an hour and on a public holiday.

I love my Melo Yelo ebike having so much fun getting out there and doing it I have arthritis in my nees and back and my Melo Yelo has got me moving again.

Great bike. Would recommend it once the “experts” fix the glitch with the mudguards. They’re not secure and particularly the front developed a continuous rattle. Lucky we have a McGiver in the family who secured the mudguard by adding a support bar from the mudguard to the frame. Just like the bikes in the “old days”. No more rattle.

Absolutely LOVE my traverse ebike! Very smart bright red colour and get lots of comments! Great balance, suspension and solid tyres. Goes like the clappers! Wouldn't be without it and incredible value for money. Best of all is the service - from the information to the setting up of your bike for you specifically- and then there's the follow-up emails post purchase. MeloYelo is the BEST!!

Love my melo yelo bike!

Love my little red Melo yellow bike have now done over 1k on it. Since March. Beautiful scenery around the lower north island , looking forward to doing south Island in March.

Alan has been wonderful. Very helpful. I know I can ring him anytime if I have issues.

My wife Gillian and myself are enjoying our MeloYelo bikes. Bruce & Nancy McKenzie have been great and when buy a MeloYelo bike it feels like you are joining the family.

We have a bike each and absolutely love it. Easy to use and the back up from MeloYelo is really impressive.

I bought my Traverse in May and am really enjoying the experience. I'm amazed at the battery life, I haven't seen less than 3 bars since I've been riding. My longest ride has been< 50kms at this point so no worries with battery charge and going further. I've also ridden without the motor assistance and its really geared very well.
I especially enjoy the throttle especially on those very steep hills it makes the effort much more pleasant!
Am really looking forward to summer riding around the many trails available to explore on a very comfortable ebike.

Have just purchased my first e-bike today. Thanks to the excellent customer service from Mudit. Great to be able to take my time testing out their range of bikes. Also the other 2 guys also working at Cranford St store were friendly & approachable. Very happy with my Melo Yelo. Cheers.

We have only been out on our bikes a couple of times but have enjoyed the rides. The bikes are comfortable, sturdy, easy to use & a lot of fun. The 500km free service is a bonus.
Only complaint is that they were several weeks overdue, but worth the wait.

Excellent bikes just love them

We are enjoying our new Traverse Melo Yelo bikes. Only had them a few days but so far, great powerful performance and the traverse certainly flattens out the hills and lessens the head winds. Love the ultra comfy seat and the throttle, when needed, is brilliant!

Very happy with my purchase of the Tranzit model and with the 630kwh battery.

I looked and checked out E'-bikes for 3 years to see if I 'needed' one. I live in Dunedin and it's all hills. Nathan of MeloYelo Dunedin was very helpful and we decided which bike was most useful for me. Basically for me it was also sitting on different bikes and seeing which one felt right too. I thoroughly recommend MeloYelo bikes and Nathan in Dunedin. Thank you.

Graeme was very helpful sitting down for a good chat about what I was wanting from an e-bike and explaining their workings. I then had a test ride on his demo bike and was given more information when I got back from that. There was no pressure to buy, but when I decided to buy the Superlite it came with a number of complimentary accessories and further advice on service intervals etc. So far I have only ridden it within the city, but it is super easy to ride and I look forward to doing an occasional longer cycle trail ride in the future.
