The importance of collecting email addresses
MeloYelo has learned that most people take between 3 months and a year before making their first ebike purchase. There are a couple of key reasons for this:
- As with any major ticket item, people need to do their homework and shop around before making a decision;
- In the process of shopping around, they become very confused about what they should buy, because wherever they go they hear conflicting messages. And, confusion leads to procrastination.
So, when you are out in public promoting MeloYelo ebikes, chances are that few to none of the people you talk to are ready to part with their cash. So, how can you maximise the chances of turning those initial conversations into customers?
We have found that a great approach is to show them a hard copy of our “Buyer’s Guide to EBikes” and show them Page 2 where it lists the respected sources from which we have drawn information to compile the guide. (In other words, it is not just MeloYelo propaganda). Then, ask them if they would like you to email them a copy of the guide. That gives them a good reason to provide you with their email address.
If you will then provide those email addresses to MeloYelo HQ, we will add them to the mailing list that receives our e-newsletter. By keeping in touch with these prospects, and particularly by drawing attention to our blog posts which deliver genuine education on various ebike topics, we increase the likelihood that those prospects will turn into MeloYelo customers.
