We asked Kiwis aged 50+ what they were looking for in an ebike. Here’s what they said.
- Ease of getting on and off – a step-through frame.
- How well the bike fits/how comfortable it is.
- 94% said they would spend $5000 or less. 72% said they would spend $4000 or less.
- Throttle to help get moving from a standstill and for a burst of extra power on hills.
- A large enough battery to be able to ride longer distances.
Here’s how MeloYelo delivers:
Ease of getting on and off
All of MeloYelo’s models have step-through frames, ideal for anyone who might have mobility issues.
How well the bike fits
MeloYelo agents offer comprehensive test-rides away from busy streets. In some cases, they will even ride along with you, asking you how the bike feels and making adjustments to the saddle, handlebars, and levers along the way, to make the bike as comfortable as possible for you.
Before you purchase your MeloYelo, your agent might even:
- Swap out the handlebars for a different style to make your bike more comfortable
- Swap out the saddle
- Add a suspension seat post
There may be costs involved, but our aim – always – is to deliver your bike so it fits you like a glove.
Price
MeloYelo offers everyday low pricing, which means that our bikes are typically hundreds of dollars less than equivalently-spec’ed bikes from the competition.
How do we do this? We have established our own nationwide channel of agents, virtually all of whom work from their homes and therefore don’t have the costs of bricks-and-mortar locations. MeloYelo passes these cost savings along to our customers.
Throttle
Some refer to this as the turbo button. Many bike brands don’t offer a throttle, however MeloYelo understands that most of its customers prefer to have this option and that they find it invaluable at a) helping them to get moving from a standstill and b) giving them an extra burst of power while climbing steep hills. Should you not wish to use the throttle, your MeloYelo agent can disable it.
Battery size
Once people discover how much fun it is to ride an ebike, they typically begin to extend the length of their rides. Knowing this, MeloYelo has always offered batteries that are larger than those offered by the competition. Whereas other ebikes might come with a 500 watt-hour battery, MeloYelo ebikes are equipped with either 630 watt-hour or 720 watt-hour batteries, meaning you need never fear about running out of battery power while you’re out on some remote trail.
