Very happy with my Melo Yelo Ascent bike.
It does everything I need it to do and more.

What a game-changer this terrific bike has been for me! Previously I’ve struggled up hills but with my new Ascent I’ve been able to explore amazing places I’d never have been able to ride otherwise. We go out now for hours at a time. Don’t believe e-bikes won’t get you fit – you can make it as easy or hard as you like. Love my bike and looking forward to many more wonderful journeys with my Ascent.

Very happy with this choice. When there has been an issue I didn’t know how to handle, my agent was able to come and adjust, replace, and resolve.
I take the battery out when I need to load onto my motorhome bike rack.

I love my ascent. I have had it for two years.
I purchased extras in the beginning just to ensure comfort- suspension seat, and post, but apart from servicing it has not needed anything else done.
Have ridden trails from Queenstown to Rotorua.
Regular servicing with the Melo Yelo dealer is a must.
The bike has heaps of grunt for me, have never used 4 or 5, but do flick thru all gears from time to time just to keep the gears in action.
Would buy the the same again!

Proudly owned, but not used to date as much as I originally intended. Hence, my review is a little limited.
My supplier to choose was easy-a NZ based operator with a proven record of operation.
My choice of model was made easier by much help from my local supplier [Pete] and the availability of a model that suited my needs-road/off road and decent sized battery.
The delivery, follow up service and continued help with accessories etc. was terrific.
The bike is a delight to ride and I can’t think of any improvements needed. [Apart from a pesty mudguard that sometime rubs against the rear wheel.
So, more than happy with my bike and have yet to see something else that I would rather have. Now able to use the bike to its full potential with the purchase of a bike carrier. It’s only the body and age that present any barriers. Not the bike!

Love the bike.
Great exercise, particularly if you have a sit-down job.
Easy to use and fun to ride.
I’d recommend this bike if you want to keep fit and have fun without borders.
I am recovering from painful sciatica and the Osteopath told me “Yes! Cycling was something I could still do and it’s great exercise”.
I am happy with my decision to buy one.
I’ll see if I can convince the Boss if she wants one too … 🙂

Excellent bike great to ride on long and short distances
Very comfortable seat easy to change gears
Manage a 30km ride with minimal battery usage
Love the general look of the bike and the colour
We have a great dealer in Ken always only a phone call away for any questions

I love my Ascent which I have had for two years.
Have done+lots of riding between Queenstown and Rotorua.
When I bought it I also got the suspension post and comfy seat. Well worth it.
Bike has heaps of grunt. I usually sit on 2, occasionally 3, but only go to 4/5 to give the gears a work out every so often.
Regular servicing with a Melo Yelo dealer, is paramount. They sure know the bikes well!
I would definitely make the same choice if buying again.

I love my Ascent bike. I ride it to work most days and have amazing trail rides during the weekends. I enjoy the throttle when needed. But mostly enjoy the easy dismounts. I recommend this bike to anyone who enjoys long bike rides

I’m thinking of purchasing another one for family to ride when they come and visit.Need I say more.👍

Enjoying AscentMD.
Rode parts of Rox borough & Clutha Gold in March.
Suspension seat helped comfort
Are drop seats available ? That would have helped on some of switchbacks.

I love my bike!….it’s a beautiful green Ascent, and I wear a matching helmet. Everyone who sees it comments on how good it looks and wants to know where it came from. Both my husband and I bought one, and have encouraged quite a few people to get one also.
The bike has been everywhere….from easy to difficult riding.
I had an extension added to the front post to allow me to sit more upright whilst riding when I first bought it. Then, other than adding extras like lights, bell, rear basket and a mirror, plus regular services, the bike has required no extra work.
I ride it daily and would be lost without it. Thank you Meloyelo.

Highly recommended e-bike. My wife who is 5’4 and I 6’2 both have Ascent bikes of the same frame size. The difference being in the seat and handle bar positions. We both bike further and more frequently knowing if we get tied the bike will get us home with little effort. Great form of exercise for the over 50’s.
This bike is not a mountain bike both is suitable for off road bike trials typically found around NZ. The quality is excellent. We have had ours for over a year and found no issues. The bikes are heavy due to the large batteries but these can be removed when mounting bikes on to a car etc. If you are looking for a way to enjoy your weekends and see more of your city then this is an great way to do it.

I Love my Melo Yello Ascent – everything I wanted in an E-bike!
I also love the kiwi values the company has and it was a clincher knowing they support E-education in schools.
We bike regularly and have also completed some longer trails in Central Otago and are planning the Great Taste Trail later in the year.
My bike regularly attracts comment re how sturdy it looks too & I have recommended both bike and local agent to others.
What more can I say?

I spent quite a lot of time researching the ‘best’ bike for me. The MeloYelo Ascent MD came out on top.I’m loving my Ascent MD for several reasons:
1; It’s a comfortable ride and fits my frame perfectly (I’m 163cm tall of average build).
2; I like that it has a power boost option- this is so useful when climbing those challenging hills and you only need a short boost, and most importantly, when accelerating at a green light. I do think this is very important to keep yourself safe and out of the flow of the traffic. Sometimes when you’re at a red light some impatient drivers don’t want to wait for you. Using the power boost gets you out of their way superfast! The advantage of using the power boost as opposed to using your gears, is that if you know you can ride at a lower power level once you have passed the intersection, you’re not having to change gears, just flick the boost.
3; Aesthetically they look great. The colours are fun and the paint doesn’t chip easily,
4; The battery life is brilliant! I can’t say much more about that.
5; I like the personal service- not that I’ve had to see my agent again but I know he’s there if I need him.
Although I had to park my bike up for quite some time due to a serious wrist fracture, I’m now getting out and about more and enjoying the freedom of my Ascent.

I am very pleased with my ascent. I purchased the bike nine months ago and it has not disappointed. It is reliable, has great battery life, the power is excellent for all terrains and is a comfortable ride. I was so pleased, my husband decided to purchase one too!

Love my Melo Yelo Ascent,
I have Ben riding an Avanti. E bike, but decided to go with the ascent after my wife rode hers for some months
It does all that could ask of it is nice and solid, easy to ride and has a better sized battery.
It’s only drawback is the time to recharge after a ride is somewhat longer than my old bike.
Have just spent time riding the Waiotahi, and Motu dunes trails and recharged using a 750 watt inverter in our motorhome with no trouble. (thank goodness for great solar system).
Thanks Melo Yelo Papamoa for your service and assistance with my purchase.

I have had my Ascent bike for nearly 18 months, and find I am more inclined to get out and ride more regularly than with the “muscle ” bike I rode previously. Initially I was curious in how far I could ride on one battery charge. I managed 200kms with about 50kms on level 0 over flat and downhill distances. (I like to maintain some of the old fitness)! I have also run the battery down to the low blinking level, and having turned off, found there was enough power left to assist with on last hill before cruising into home base. It’s nice to know there is a good reserve for longer rides. Most of my riding has been on paved or light gravel trails.
Bronwyn Waring –
Really impressed with my Ascent. I hadn’t ridden bikes for years so started with short rides and lately have been enjoying riding some of the trails. I especially like the throttle for short sharp hills and the bigger battery served me well on the recent 80km Te Aroha to Matamata and return ride. We have been enjoying getting out and about on our bikes. Seats are comfortable, gears and e-assist are great, lights, mudguards and carrier come with the bike. We have added the suspension seat post which makes riding really smooth.

We both got Ascent bikes on the recommendation of a friend who had one, after initially hiring e bikes on a couple of occasions. The MeloYelo agent was really friendly and helpful and after a test ride we decided to purchase. We live in a hilly area so the Ascent 80nm assist power is appreciated when riding up the steeper streets, we’ve already ridden quite a lot of the Hauraki Rail trail and the battery capacity is really useful. The Ascent came complete with front and rear lights including stop, mudguards, stand, carrier, and comfortable seat, we’ve added the Suntour Suspension Seatpost for the extra smooth ride and handle bar mounted mirror for convenience & safety. We are enjoying exploring more trails and places on our Ascent Bikes – they were a great choice for us.

Our Ascent is around 3 years old. Excellent build and component quality. As its a multi terrain capable bike although not a full MTB it does warrant a 10 speed cassette with greater (taller) ratios for the steep stuff. This would mske it a better bike. Also noted that the rear hub was standard but the frame was the new standard wider “boost” width with the insufficient width packed out with washers. The front forks are boost width. That’s why there was no quick release fitted to the rear (there is a quick release on the front). Maybe that’s changed since. The bike is otherwise proved reliable, capable and comfortable. No issues.

After riding our ordinary pedal bikes for the last 10 years we were finding them a bit of a challenge on hills and long distances so I bought a Meloyelo Ascent and at 73 yrs it feels like I am 30 yrs younger as I have no trouble with hills or riding 30-40 kms. This bike has all the power and features I need to keep me on the move. My wife tried out my Ascent and found it very easy to ride so we bought one for her and we take them away on the motorhome for exploring new trails and places.

Purchase my Ascent bike two weeks ago and have bike to work everyday since , its such an easy bike to ride and on the straight roads don’t use any power. Looking forward to trying it out on some of the local trail rides soon. Our agent Neil Parkinson in Waikato was fantastic to deal with and would recommend if you are thinking about investing in an ebike give a MeloYelo agent a ring now before you buy else well you may be pleasantly surprise with these bikes.
Neil and Rachel Wilkinson –
Brought two of these – one for each of us and never regretted the decision. Fantastic on all surfaces, great battery life, step through makes it easy to get on and off, light enough to lift onto the carrier rack and overall all that we were after.
John Bartley –
I have had my Ascent for only six months and have only good comments to make. The step through frame makes mounting and dismounting so much easier as my age wants to limit the full use of my legs. I have a couple of very challenging hills in my area and I am blown away at just how easy it is to ride up these. (could never do it with my conventional bike 🙂 And I’m pleased with the battery life, It allows me to be a bit adventurous if I feel like extending a ride.
I finally have a great bike rack fitted to my camper van so I can now venture onto trails and tracks in other places apart from home. Bring it on.

Apart from some teething issues my Ascent has not missed a beat. My wife and I have travelled over 1000km of southern winter trails since purchasing our bikes from Nathan 6 months ago. Our longest ride was 60km on an icy trail between TeAnau and Manapouri and back. We still had plenty of battery left after the ride. Since buying these bikes we are spending so much more time out cycling and are now planning a biking holiday around the more of the South Island trails over summer.
