Electric bikes in Waipa, NZ

After years of running electrical contractors in Auckland and raising a family, the Cooks sold up and headed to the Waikato to build a new home and relax into semi-retirement. With the Hauraki Rail Trail on their doorstep, but with Gillian having health issues that ruled out traditional cycling, they decided to try e-bikes, and there was no looking back. The e-bikes have opened up a whole new world of cycling for them, from riding to work to weekends, discovering and exploring new cycleways and trails.

With Jeff’s electrical background, he is fascinated by the inner workings of the bikes and was impressed not only by the MeloYelo bikes but also by their professionalism and passion for what they do.  The ability to create a lifestyle for people who thought cycling was no longer an option, whether they are experienced cyclists or just getting into it.

Not having a bike until later in life and then quickly finding she wasn’t able to ride due to cardiac issues, Gillian has been thrilled to be able to get out on her bike. She knows that she can put as much effort into the ride as her body allows, with all the confidence of the power levels and throttle as and when it may be needed. She never thought she would spend her weekends riding along rivers and around the seashore, through forests or farmland, or just around town.

With that in mind, they jumped at the opportunity to become MeloYelo agents, share their experience with others, and help match them to the perfect bike for their needs, lifestyle, and physical abilities.
