Meet Shane

Shane is originally from Taranaki, but has spent almost his entire life outside of the province. Having returned to Taranaki just three years ago, Shane and his family are loving life in New Plymouth.

Shane left New Zealand after a spell with the Royal New Zealand Navy, while living in England, he began cycling with friends. This turned into an 18 month bike trip around Holland, Belgium, France and Spain. He then left for Australia, continuing to cycle around the South West of Western Australia. Eventually meeting his wife, they moved to Singapore where Shane taught in International Schools. This international life continued for many years, including time in China, Abu Dhabi, Norway and Bahrain before returning to New Zealand.

Shane still enjoys getting around on his bike, the tracks and trails of Taranaki are incredible. When he came across MeloYelo, Shane saw the opportunity to be heavily involved with cycling and sharing this passion with others. As a teacher, Shane is naturally caring and patient. He is always willing to give time to those around him and for you, this translates to a truly excellent all round experience.

I had the pleasure of having a test ride on the Superlite 3 (large frame) and SuperTrail. Because of my small stature, I opted for the Superlite 3 model after a couple of test rides, experimenting with different seats and set-ups. What a joy to ride, it is well balanced, obviously light, with plenty of power to do all that is required. Shane fitted a complementary mirror which is an added bonus when riding. I could not recommend the MeloYelo more than I have to all who are willing to listen. There will still be many calls made to Shane, wanting to know all the whys and wherefores, and he is always obliging with his responses. A great purchase for this 'mature lass' who is now taking a new direction in life exploring via pedal power all that our country has to offer, instead of the previous foot power.

I find that the bike is quite heavy for me to handle up onto the car for transporting it up onto my bike frame on top of my car like 21 kgs .I don't have a tow bar.As for getting a service I I am to far away from Ken Agar biki g to his place is out of the question.

Ken has provided excellent service to us in purchasing our Meloyelo Town n Trail electric bike. He gave us a clear overview of the different models available pointing out the pros and cons of each bike and clearly explaining their suitability for different riding environments. Once we cut it down to two models, he clearly and fully explained and demonstrated how the bikes operate before we were able to confidently take a test ride. From making the decision on which model we wanted, it took less than a week for the bike to arrive and be assembled by Ken. Ken was very accommodating with our pick up arrangements and gave us a very thorough briefing on all elements of the bike and it's use.

We love our Melo Yelo Townee ebikes. WE have had them for 6 months and are out there most days. We just love that we can go further afield than walking and see so much. With the walkway so close to our home it is a treat, as walking any distance was getting difficult for me. Ken was awesome to deal with and happily advised how to get the best from our bikes. He was very patient with me as I hadn't been on a bike for many years.

MeloYelo are totally the best deal. They come already fitted with side-stand, lights, mudguards, a carrier rack, and offer a free 1st service. (I recommend getting a side-mirror too if you'll be riding on roads and cycleways) 😁

I bought the SuperLite bike under three months ago (including a couple of weeks out with COVID and for utterly hostile weather) and I’ve already racked up well over 1500 km! It’s a joy to ride, so light and manoeuvrable. It took me a week or so to get used to the synergy between the electric motor and gears, but once I got it, I was AWAY!

Kens agency provides excellent service. 5 Stars as far as we are concerned. Our 4 star rating is for the bike. We bought an Ascent based the bike design and on the Consumer Report on the Bafang Motor. The bike design is second to none. Robust, high quality standard fittings and a wide "Step Through" essential given Wendy's disability. I have had 55 years cycling experience on road and trails. Four of those years involving E Bikes of which I have ridden many over a wide variety of terrain. Prior to purchase Wendy test rode the bike on the flat. Great. But hill climbing was not as good as other E bikes ridden on lower power settings (2 out of 5). Ken has optimised the Ascents motor controller settings and changed the 42 tooth chain ring for a 38. Hill climbing is improved but you need to be on power setting 4 or 5 to get the assistance needed. The MeloYelo is a good bike but we would recommend you test ride a variety of brands up steep hills to make sure it you are comfortable with the need to change both power settings and gears on approaching a steep hill so you can keep up with your E Bike riding friends on the inclines.

I have only been for two 6km rides up and down hills in New Plymouth.
It has been a pleasure to ride, comfortable seat and getting a hand getting up hills with ease.
I bought the bike so I can keep up with my wife on her mobility scooter and venture further a field.
Having trouble turning on the head light and will talk to Ken about that.

I purchased a Tranzit MD eBike from Ken and I am very happy with its quality, performance and stability both on the road and on tracks. It is a joy to ride and I highly recommend the Meloyelo brand. Ken was very helpful and knowledgeable about the different options available and ensured I got the best model for my biking requirements. Once my bike arrived, he ensured that it was set up perfectly for my height etc and I also bought the NCX suspension post which makes my seat even more comfortable and makes for a very smooth ride.

I purchased "The Roam" about 6 months ago and have clocked up 800kms, mainly around town and a few local bike trails around New Plymouth. Ken did a post sale check and since then the bike has not missed a beat. It is of good solid construction and easy and comfortable to ride with it's memory foam saddle. A handlebar rear view mirror is a must for busy roads. Puncture free tires give a feeling of security. Ken is a very agreeable agent, easy to deal with and I can highly recommend him and the company. So if you are looking for an ebike, Meloyelo should be at the top of your list.
