Meet Kai

Kai is a professional engineer who migrated from Germany to New Zealand in 2015. He worked for a car maker in Germany, grew up around bikes, and is a passionate mountain biker. Impressed by the quality and value for money ratio of MeloYelo E-Bikes, Kai decided to take on the franchise for MeloYelo Taupo. Says Kai: “You can count on me to help you find the right bike, to set the bike up so that it is most comfortable for you, and to take care of you after the sale, including service and repairs.”

I have just purchased a Meloyelo, superlite e bike with Kai Nielues from Taupo. I couldn't have asked for a better tutor. I trialed 3 bikes before I made my decision. He made me feel more confident each time we went out. Explaining when and how to use the assist mode and when to use gears. He set the bike up to fit me. I went with the dropper seat as I felt more confident having my feet on the ground when I stopped with just the push of a button. Highly recommend Kai for anyone who is unsure of purchasing an e bike and he will answer any questions or concerns you may have.

I just bought a Melo Yelo Ascent from Kai in Taupo. I had been looking for a step through style ebike for a while and ended up just getting confused by the local dealers but the moment I met Kai and was able to try out the different Melo Yelo bikes I was no longer confused. He was wonderfully patient and explained everything I needed to know. I enjoyed test riding a few of the step through bikes and even changed my handlebar style. I would recommend Melo Yelo to anyone looking for an ebike because of the wonderful service you get to find the right bike for your needs.

What a fantastic experience buying my first e-bike from Kai.
I was nervous starting out on the test ride but Kai was very relaxed and patient explaining everything so clearly that I actually enjoyed the ride, especially testing two bikes on a hill.

Kai has been great to deal with throughout the whole process. We tried a couple of different bikes for our test ride and decided that these were the bikes for us. We bought two Ascent bikes with some accessories. Kai set both bikes up and made a few alterations to the height of seats and handlebars.
We are now enjoying the many biking options around Taupo.

Kai was so helpful when I started the process of deciding on an E bike. He spent a lot of time answering many questions, and gave me a lot of helpful information, and took me out on a demo ride. I had lost my confidence in negotiating hills, even small ones, and he restored my confidence in my own abilities and in the bikes abilities - I felt like a kid just having fun again! I bought the Superlite small, and it's perfect size and weight for my size. Kai made sure to adjust the setup so it fitted me properly. Such a good quality bike. I'm going to have lots of fun on the trails and roads around Kinloch where I live and will be taking it with us on holidays too! One very happy customer!

kai took me for a test ride, rode both the tranzit MD and the town & trail. kai was fabulous, really knows what he is doing, and answered all my questions, and was so patient, i hadnt ridden for years. i purchased the town and trail, kai changed the handle bars for me, and was just so helpful. we are lucky he is the taupo agent.

I am so happy with my Tranzit MD purchased four months ago. Kai did a fabulous job fitting it and swapping out the handlebars and seat post to my specifications. He made a minor tweak or two at the first service and gave it a thorough wash. Very nice! It's reassuring to know he is around for maintenance and repairs.

I had not originally planned to ride trails, but Taupo has so many that the Tranzit handles effortlessly that I have fallen in love with them. I had no trouble riding Grade 3 on this bike.

It's a brilliant shopping bike remaining stable with several kg in each pannier.

I love my Tranzit for town and trails and Kai is so nice to work with.

My 'Bootee' electric bike was purchased from Malcolm so that it would fit easily in to the boot of the motorhome. As I am 84 years young it had to be lifted over a lip at chest height which I can do. I am enjoying the exercise and the exhilaration of wind whistling over my face and expect to continue to feel confident in the craftsmanship and technology of my bike. Melo -Yelo bikes are the best. Incredible value for money. Half the price of the equivalent you would find in a store. The bikes are hardy, durable, quality products. The after purchase service is unbelievable - instant access to the local agent, who will give help over the phone, or offers immediate service should the bikes need a tweek. We have bought 3 of these bikes - you would have to ask the question - why would I pay twice the price for an inferior product, with hopeless after purchase service?. Melo-Yelo is a personally owned company that offers personal service.
