Shimano hydraulic disk brakes

I have had some reports of the Shimano hydraulic brakes on the Ascent MD feeling spongy and as if they need more oil added and bleeding.These brakes are of the J-Kit type and they are a different beast from the Tekro hydraulic brakes that we are familiar with and they require somewhat special treatment.Before attempting to bleed them please read the info in the link below.

As I understand it you can just add some oil to the top reservoir without too much drama.
