General Questions
Well, it all depends on the model and frame size. Our range of MeloYelo eBikes starts from 22kg (the SuperLite) through to approx. 28kgs including battery, carriers, lights etc.
Most MeloYelo eBikes comes with a 3 Amp charger and will recharge the bike in about 3 to 5 hours. The bike comes fully charged and will be good for about 50+ kms, depending on how it is used. The charge level can be seen on the display read-out or by pressing the button on top of the battery.
We have a range of frame sizes from min seat height 750-840mm depending on the model. We recommend booking a test ride with a MeloYelo agent and they will take your through the range and help you chose the right eBike for you.

You can choose whether to do all the work with no motor assist (power off, level assist at zero) or, depending on the model of eBike, use the motor to boost your leg power by anywhere from 30% boost to 300% boost. Imagine what it feels like to climb big hills or battle strong winds with 300% more power!
The primary difference between a mid-drive and hub-drive motor on an eBike lies in their placement and functionality:
- Mid-drive motor:
- Location: Positioned near the pedals, typically at the bike’s bottom bracket.
- Functionality: Powers the cranks directly, transferring force through the bike’s drivetrain.
- Benefits: Provides a more balanced weight distribution, resulting in improved handling and stability. Offers better efficiency, especially on varied terrain or steep hills. Allows for a wider range of gearing options, enhancing the rider’s ability to adapt to different riding conditions.
- Hub-drive motor:
- Location: Integrated within the rear or front wheel hub.
- Functionality: Directly drives the motion of the wheel itself.
- Benefits: Simplifies the bike’s design and maintenance, as it doesn’t affect the drivetrain. Typically offers a throttle and pedal-assist modes for varying levels of assistance. Suitable for casual riders or those seeking straightforward operation without the need for frequent gear changes or adjustments.
In summary, while both types of motors offer their own advantages, the choice between a mid-drive and hub-drive motor often depends on factors such as riding style, terrain, and personal preferences.

In the world of electrically assisted pedal cycles (EAPCs), one question frequently arises: Do I have to pedal an eBike?
The simple answer is YES! Pedalling is an integral part of the eBike experience, and it’s what makes them so versatile and exciting.
When it comes to comparing Bafang and Bosch motors, there are several factors that we need to consider. Both offer excellent performance and power delivery, with Bafang perhaps excelling in torque output while Bosch focuses on seamless integration and overall riding experience. In terms of pricing, Bafang motors are generally more affordable compared to Bosch.
The question “Where are your ebikes made?” is a common one, but it is also an inaccurate one. Why? Because bikes and ebikes are assembled using components from a wide variety of different suppliers, some of whom may be based in Japan, some in Korea, and some in China for example. So, the factory “making” MeloYelo ebikes is actually an assembly plant, not a manufacturing plant. Therefore, we believe a better question is “How are MeloYelo ebikes made?”
This is a little bit like asking ‘how long is a piece of string’. How far you can ride on a single eBike charge depends on several factors e.g. battery wattage, terrain, level of assist and how hard you pedal.
Generally, your eBike will go approx. 50-70km on one battery charge. For more information and how to work out how far your eBike will go, click the link below.
Wattage represents the amount of electrical energy that the motor can convert into mechanical power and torque is the rotational force that drives an engine or motor.
So in eBikes, Torque represents the turning force that propels your eBike forward, while watts i.e. power determine how quickly that force is delivered.
Some MeloYelo models are designed for mostly urban or light trail riding, while others are designed for more serious trail riding.
The MeloYelo eBike warranty covers your frame for 6 years, and everything else for 3 years. That’s up to 2 years longer than any of our competitors.
