A few months ago, we caught up with Don Mclellan, who was in the process of selecting his second MeloYelo ebike, after having ridden an amazing 19,000km on his first!
And now? He’s already ticking over a huge amount of kilometres again, having reached 2,500 so far on his new bike.
Well done Don, what an amazing effort!
Here’s a bit more of Don’s story from our catchup a few months ago, to inspire us all to get out there and keep pedaling.
How long have you owned your MeloYelo ebike for, and how many kilometres have you ridden?
I purchased my MeloYelo Tranzit bike just before Christmas 2021 (I think), after some consideration of the various brands and bikes available. I have since done 19,000km.
How often do you ride, and on what kind of terrain?
I try to ride every day, weather permitting as I live in Westport. I bike a mix of roads and local trails especially the new Kawatiri coastal trail. I have also biked numerous other South Island trails including the Alps to the Ocean and the Dunstan trail.
How have you found the after-sale service from MeloYelo over the years?
Servicing was initially carried out by Emega, the supplier in Christchurch, and have only had 1 small hiccup with it, which they remedied. It is now serviced regularly a little closer to home.
What do you enjoy most about riding a MeloYelo ebike?
As my age is increasing (78) I now really enjoy the step through feature. The style of bike and ease of operation makes it a pleasure to ride.
What are your future plans with your MeloYelo ebike?
I am really looking forward to getting my new MeloYelo bike soon to continue my adventures. After the success of this bike, my partner is getting one too.
